A long time ago, a whole civilization lived on the moon. Because it was such a peaceful time, everyone lived together in harmony. Queen Serenity, along with the incredible powers of the ginzuishou, ensured that all was at peace. Princess Serenity, the Queen's daughter, also lived on the moon. The princess was fascinated with Earth, mainly because she had fallen in love with a man who lived there, Prince Endymion.
Life was wonderful on the moon . . . until one day when evil hordes from the Dark Kingdom decided to invade it. Queen Serenity watched helplessly as her daughter and kingdom were destroyed before her very eyes. In desperation, she decided to unleash the full powers of the ginzuishou, despite knowing that it would drain all her energy. Using the ginzuishou, she sent her daughter and all in her kingdom to a better life on Earth . . .

Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon is the story of a young girl who is destined to fight for love and justice. It ended in Japan on February 8, 1997 with its 200th episode.
